Name: Tim W. (started June 2016)
Location: Nebraska
What’s a typical working day for you?
I’m an early morning person. Really early. Like 3 am early. Make a pot of coffee and work until it’s time to take my boys to school and my wife to the bus. Come back and continue working on the project at hand until it is complete.
What do you like most about working with 24/7 Transcripts?
The best part is being able to work around all the other craziness going on in the house and use my love of grammar to generate income. I also didn’t realize until I got started how enjoyable it is to be a fly on the wall of some of these focus groups and interviews. They can be really fascinating.
Do you have any advice for people thinking of applying to work with company?
Be prepared to work. I have a lot of people tell me how it must be nice to get paid to do nothing at home. That, ladies and gentlemen, is fake news. While the flexibility is great, you do still have to be accurate and timely.
What, if anything, sets apart working with 24/7 Transcripts than other companies?
The communication, hands down. Any time I have a question or send an email, within minutes I have a response. They are wonderful.
What have been your favorite topics to transcribe?
My favorite topic so far that I’ve transcribed has to be interviews with refugees and the struggles that they face coming over to the U.S. including finding jobs, housing and sometimes just people that care. It was really eye opening to get a personalized view of that process. It certainly gave me a deeper understanding of it all.
Would you be open to submitting a photo (head shot) to be included (definitely not necessary!)?
I’m going to pass on that. My mug would break the site. : )
Is there anything else you want to say about working with 24/7 Transcripts?
This is truly one of the best jobs I’ve had, and Alison and Julie are fantastic to work for.
