FAQ

How fast can I get my transcripts back and how will I receive them?

We email transcripts back to you directly as they are completed in Word .DOC format. You'll see transcripts each day until the job is completed. The number of transcripts depends on what else is on our schedule at the time. Projects are first come, first serve, so booking your project ahead of time will ensure fastest turnaround.

How do your prices compare to other transcription services?

In most cases, we will meet or beat any price quote that you've received in writing from another transcription company within 60 days. We offer discounts for large jobs, as well as special pricing to our loyal customers who use our services on a regular basis.

What type of transcriptions do you do?

We transcribe focus groups, triads, dyads, ethnographies, shopalongs and in-depth interviews in all fields and for all industries.

Can you handle technical and specialized subject matter transcription?

Yes! An integral part of our transcription process is research. We work diligently to ensure that specialized jargon, terms and names are transcribed accurately.

What format can you transcribe from?

Most audio formats such as .WAV, .WMA, .MP3, .OGG, .AIFF, .DCT, .DSS, etc. We highly recommend digital format, as that will ensure the quickest turnaround. If you have a DVD/CD/cassette tape, please contact us for shipping information.

How do I get my material to you?

You can upload your digital files to our FTP site. If you prefer to use a service such as Hightail, Dropbox or your own server, links to the audio can be emailed to us.

What do you charge for rush jobs?

Normally there is no extra charge for a rush job. We work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 364 days a year, so your work is always completed extremely fast.  In extreme rush cases, there may be a charge if overtime is needed to complete the job.

Where are your transcriptionists located?

Our talented team is 100 percent U.S. based, from coast to coast.

I've heard of digital voice recorders. I know most companies are using them these days. What are the benefits?

With digital voice recorders, or even recording apps on an iPhone or Android smartphone, you eliminate the shipping costs incurred with hard media, as well as the days lost in transit time for a package to reach us. If used correctly, it can produce a very clean, high quality audio from which you will receive a much more accurate transcript.

How large of a project can you handle?

There is no job too small or too large for us. We specialize in large jobs, but are happy to take on any project of any size.

What is the difference between transcripts and summary/notes?

Transcripts are verbatim, without ums and uhs. They are at least 98% accurate, depending on the quality of audio you present to us. It is always better to have clean and clear audio for the best results. We work diligently to provide the most accurate transcripts from poorer audio as well.

Summary/notes are about 1/2 to 2/3 in length of a transcript. We leave out all of the repetition and erroneous conversations and what you are left with is clear, concise answers to the questions that are asked. This is an economical alternative to transcripts and mainly used when your clients do not require transcripts, but would like an in-depth report. It is a very efficient tool in assisting in report writing.

What are your payment terms?

We bill after the project is complete. The payment is due upon completion of the project, but we give you a 30 day grace period. Any discounted invoices must be paid within 30 days or the discount is void.
